The Shifts Women Entrepreneurs Need to Scale with Clarity and Ease

What actually moves the needle for women entrepreneurs? After decades of helping leaders grow sustainable businesses, Laurie Wintonick, Beyara’s Head of Business, has seen the patterns up close. In this post, she shares the shifts that matter most—so you can build profit, clarity, and freedom without burning out.

Start with your life—then design the business to fit

Before you optimize your calendar, offers, or marketing…get honest about the life you want. Time freedom, location freedom, presence with your people, your health—name it first. Then architect the business (offers, delivery model, team) to serve that life, not consume it. False urgency fades when you’re working from a vision, not from everyone else’s expectations.

Try this: Write a one-paragraph “Ideal Week” for real life (work, family, self). Use it as a filter for what you sell and how you deliver.


Lead with outcomes, not options

Most founders jump to “solutions” they can see (a new hire, another offer, a different platform). Flip it. Define the result first—crystal clear—and then select the path that best serves it. When you choose from outcomes, not defaults, the plan gets simpler and your actions compound.

Prompt: “If nothing were off limits, what result would I choose here?”

Build the right team (it’s the real “secret sauce”)

You don’t scale by doing more—you scale by people in the right seats, working in their zone of genius. Hire for character and culture (hungry, humble, smart), then give clear outcomes and trust. Remember the 80% rule: if a great hire can do it 80% as well as you, it’s still a win—because you’re now doing the work only you can do.

Quick audit: List everything on your plate. Mark:

  • Love & excellent at → keep
  • Good but draining → delegate first
  • Not good & draining → delegate now
     

Practice radical common sense

We call it the ability to “figure it out.” Create clear guardrails (scorecards, SOPs, cadences), then expect your team to bring solutions, not just problems. Autonomy plus accountability creates momentum—and frees your brain for vision, content, relationships, and strategy.

Stay confident—without the ego

Confidence moves things forward; humility keeps you growing. Be the person who can take direct feedback, who learns in public, who asks better questions. Rooms that stretch you are rooms that grow you.

Litmus test: If you’re always the most knowledgeable person at the table, find a new table.

Use fear as a compass

Fear doesn’t mean stop; it often means pay attention. Break the big leap into rocks and next actions, then stack small wins. Motion creates clarity.

Protect your energy on purpose

Schedule a daily “Laurie Hour”—one sacred hour that’s just for you (walk, yoga, reading, quiet). It’s your oxygen mask. Your leadership is only as strong as your energy.


It doesn’t take an overhaul to start leading differently. Small, intentional shifts add up quickly. Block just one piece of your “ideal week” on your calendar. Choose one clear outcome to focus on for the next 30 days. Hand off even a single draining task instead of waiting for the “perfect” time. And most importantly, protect a little daily space that’s just for you—because your energy is the fuel that keeps everything moving forward.

As you reflect, ask yourself: where are you shaping your life around the business, when what you really want is a business that supports your life? What’s one shift you can make this week to come back into alignment?
